We all think that learning is an activity in our classrooms to skip classes and go to schools. However, the situation is different. In a YouTube video I listened to years ago, I heard a sentence: Education is the residue that remains when you forget what you have learned. I think it really is. If life is the sum of everything that happens to you while you are busy making plans, it is the residue that remains when you forget what you learned in education.
In 2015, I encountered an important process that changed my perspective on education. In those years, I wanted to study at one of the highest level educational institutions by entering Koç or Boğaziçi Universities. However, since my score was not enough at that time, I started attending Mef University, one of the newly established universities with an innovative education approach. Although the friendly environment and friendships affected me very positively, I left Mef University because I did not give up on my dreams. I needed to make a serious plan, and when I evaluated my abilities and concerns, I saw that my mathematical abilities were superior and decided to prepare for Koç University. I continued to take tests on the bus, on the ferry, and in the cafe. In between, I toured Istanbul and managed my stress well. I left behind a story that I will be proud of when I look back.
Where is the leisure education in this?
You’re fine, you’re nice, but where is the leisure education in this? Of course, this is a good question, but since I always pursue my dreams while driving in the evenings, I spare time for free time training. For this reason, I aim to learn from my mistakes, renew myself, and achieve new goals. This attitude, which did not seem very meaningful at first, helped me acquire a character that never gave up on my dreams after a certain period of time, and continued with perseverance and determination to succeed even if I failed.
Who will you be in the future?
Nobody knows what will happen to us in the future. Normally, I aimed to develop myself and build a career in corporate companies, but many companies refused to accept me for finance positions. For this reason, I founded the platform called I educate myself. I aim to expand this platform and bring together everyone who wants to educate themselves on this platform.
